OCTOBER 24TH , 2010: ”OPERATION CANCER VIJAY’’.


Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West, organized a Cancer Awareness Programme “OPERATION CANCER VIJAY” at Nirma University, Ahmedabad on 24th Sunday. Being our Parent club, our club attended the programme. Members took up the responsibility right from the welcome desk task till the closing ceremony. In the cancer awareness programme, a good number of great personality were welcomed which included:
1) Rtn.Kranti Mehta, District Governor – RID 3050.
2) Chief Guest: DG IG of Police, Gujarat Mr.S.S.Khandwawala, IPS.
3) Guest of Honour: Mr.Vedprakash Chiripal, Chairman, Chiripal Group.
4) Keynote Speakers: Dr.Pankaj Shah (Director, The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute, Ahmedabad), Dr.Pankaj Chaturvedi (Tata Memorial, Mumbai), Dr.Shilin Shukla (Dy.Director, The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute, Ahmedabad).
5) Stress Management & Meditation by Pujya Vivekjivan Swami (BAPS Swaminarayan Sansthan)
6) A Skit on Cancer Awareness by Mr.Archan Trivedi & Group.
The event turned out to be very knowledge giving and inspiring. The message which was conveyed by this project about cancer made the invitees glued to their chair.
The event had arrangement of Breakfast and Lunch in which our club members took proper care of its execution.

OCTOBER 22TH, 2010: A GENERAL MEETING OF THE CLUB.

Today Rotary Club and Rotaract Club members met finally to prepare the welcome kits, brochures, momentos for the Cancer Vijay Project to be held on 24th Sunday. The meeting took place at around 10pm. It was attended by Rtr.Ronak (President), Rtr.Joel (ZRR) and Rtr.Manasvi.

OCTOBER 17TH, 2010: A GENERAL MEETING OF THE CLUB.

Once again, Rotary Club and Rotaract Club met at the Rotary Physiotherapy centre to discuss and evaluate the work in progress about the Cancer Vijay Project to be held on 24th of this month. OCTOBER 10TH ,2010 : HOSTING I.D.Y.E TEAM OF PUNE, AMRAWATI, BHUSAWAL AND CHALISGAON.


I.D.Y.E. team from Rotaract Club of Pune, Rotaract Club of Amrawati, Rotaract Club of Bhusawal and Rotaract Club of Chalisgaon came to Ahmedabad on 10th Sunday. All the members were escorted to Ahmedabad by I.D.Y.E. chairman, Rtr.Jatin. Their arrival in Ahmedabad was welcomed by Rtr.Ronak Shah and Rtr.Manasvi who arranged their accommodation at around 7am in the morning. In the later half of the day, Rtr.Joel took the charge of accompanying them in the tour de Ahmedabad along with Rotaract Club of Zankar and Kankaria who also hosted the team. The IDYE team were taken to Sabarmati Ashram, Kankaria and later in the night were taken to a Garba programme. The I.D.Y.E team seems to have enjoyed with the hospitality served to them. It was a great event to host the I.D.Y.E team. Looking forward to host other clubs in the coming future.

OCTOBER 10TH, 2010: A GENERAL MEETING OF THE CLUB.

Rotary Club, our parent club who is having a big project on Cancer Awareness on 24th of this month decided to have a joint meet with our club members to plan out and decide work allocation related to that project. Four members Rtr.Ronak (President), Rtr.Vishal, Rtr.Kamlesh and Rtr.Ami attended the meeting and gave some good suggestions as well as took the responsibility of some work in their project. The meeting was a attended by good number of Rotary members which eventually made the meet a positive one.

OCTOBER 3rd, 2010: DISCO PARTY FOR ALL ROTARACT CLUB MEMBERS.

The first project undertaken under the presidentship of Rtr.Ronak Shah was DISCO PARTY. The event which was visualized last month got its reality on 3rd October, Sunday. The disco party was concepted to bring some entertainment and refreshment among all the Rotaract members of Zone-1. All the club in Zone-1 were invited to come and enjoy at the fullest. The venue was at CYCLONE DISC at R3 Mall, Drive-in road.

The event was graced by the presence of Rotary Club Ahmedabad West members. After introduction and welcome ceremony, the disco party moved ahead. The Disco party was attended by Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West (35members=10club members + invitees), Rotaract Club of Zankar (25members=club members + invitees), Rotaract Club of Vasna (2members), Rotaract Club of SAL (8members=club members + invitees) and Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West (5members).

The event turned to be a rocking one with a great number of members who enjoyed at their hearts’ content. Rocking 75 members present in the event, on the whole enjoyed the DISCO PARTY. The DJ played a combination of Hindi and English songs remix which mesmerized the members present there. The dance floor was rocking with members and later with a perfect made lunch the event concluded. All the members present were really looking forward for such party in the coming days.

SEPTEMBER 26TH, 2010: SPEAKER MEET OF ALL ROTARACT CLUB AT OUR PHYSIO THERAPY CENTRE, AHMEDABAD.


Rotaract Club of Vasna wanted to have one Sports Meet event, for that they organized a meet at our Physio Therapy Centre, wherein all Rotaract Clubs were invited to give their suggestion and advice.

From among all the clubs in Ahmedabad, only Four clubs attended with the majority strength from our club. The clubs that attended the meet were Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West (5 members), Rotaract Club of Majesty (1 member), Rotaract Club of Kankaria (2 members) and Rotaract Club of Vasna (2 members).

Valueable suggestion were given from our club by Rtr.Ronak (President) and Rtr.Manasvi. Since Rtr.Joel, who is ZRR, he was the Speaker of today’s meet. Where to conduct the Sports meet, when to conduct, how many members should each club must confirm, whether to invite general public in the Sports event and many more questions were discussed and finally decided in the end.

The other active members of our club who attended the meet were Rtr.Vishal, Rtr.Kamlesh.

The Speaker Meet ended with the National Anthem.

SEPTEMBER 19TH, 2010: ROTARY CLUB’S CANCER PROJECT DISCUSSION.


Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West were organizing a Cancer Awareness Event. For that they invited us to attend the meeting and give valueable advice and suggestion to make the event a grand success. From our club, Rtr.Ronak (President), Rtr.Joel (ZRR), Rtr.Kamlesh, Rtr.Vishal and Rtr.Manasvi attended the meeting. It was a very good meet for all of us present there as it gave a new enthusiasm in every member to be active and work for Cancer Awareness.

With the prospective two new members, Rohit and Hardik, the meeting commenced at the Rotary Physio Therapy Centre at usual time. In the meeting headed today by Rtr.Joel and Rtr.Nikita, Secretary, the new members were given information about what Rotaract Club is and what does it do. With their feed back , it was found that they seemed to be much interested in joining the club. So we expecting them to become member in our club at the earliest.

SEPTEMBER 5TH ,2010: ”WALKATHON’’ .


Today, on the eve of Teacher’s Day, in our city, Ahmedabad, WALKATHON was organized at IIM, Ahmedabad road. WALKATHON was the idea incepted by two students of CALOREX DPS School. It was a very big event, which was supported by Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West and Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West.

It was a public event, wherein all citizens were invited to join WALKATHON. The main theme was to keep city clean and then make green. Their slogan was “FIRST CLEAN THEN GREEN”. Also it was an event of a walk with their pets. So many citizens brought their pets in the WALKATHON. It was really worth seeing different types of dogs’ breeds.

As many as three hundred people participated in the event. Our club members Rtr.Ronak (President), Rtr.Joel (ZRR) and Rtr.Kamlesh joined and enjoyed the event.

PRESIDENT AND SECRETARY MEET OF ZONE-I BY ZRR : AUGUST 29TH, 2010.


ZRR Joel David (Zone-I) had called for a President and Secretary Meet of Zone-I at Rotary Centre, Kankaria on 29th August.

Five Clubs’ President and Secretary attended the Zone meet.
ZRR Joel kept in front of us many important and worth following points. They are precisely shown under:
1. Every club should communicate and try to inform other club about their projects and also inviting them in the same.
2. Every club should try to submit monthly report timely on every first week of Ahmedabad.
3. Suggestion and Bids for The Zonal Meet.

SPEAKER MEET OF ROTARACT CLUB OF KANKARIA : AUGUST 29TH, 2010.


Rotaract club of Kankaria, on 29th August, had organized a Speaker Meet. Rtn.Dharmendra Joshi (of Rotary Club of Kankaria) was the speaker who spoke about Public Relations and Personality Development. Few clubs including our club attended it.

Four members from our club attended it. Rtr.Ronak (President), Rtr.Joel (ZRR Zone-I), Rtr.Vishal and Rtr.Kamlesh attended it. The speech given by Rtn.Dharmendra Joshi was very inspiring. His speech injected enthusiasm and spirit to live life fully and enjoy everyday of the life happily. His guidance about how to communicate, how to interact and how to become extrovert was really appreciable. The points discussed and guided by him can really affect every person listening to him sincerely in his social or professional life.

Rotaract Club of Kankaria, had properly arranged everything and were managed to have a proper Speaker meet.

The event was concluded by an ice-cream.

BOOKS AND STATIONERY DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY AT BIDAJ IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOL :AUGUST 23RD ,2010.


Today, after the eve of Independence Day, exactly after a week, Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West did a benevolent task of distributing books and stationery items to the school students of school in Bidaj village. Our club supported, by attending and working in the stationery distribution programme.

In the ceremony in the government school in Bidaj town, two members of the club attended it. Rtr.Ronak (President) and Rtr.Kamlesh attended the ceremony.

The students of the school performed nice dance and skit. One of the skit performed by them was about public awareness about the bad habit of smoking and tobacco. Moreover, the speech given by the Principal of the School and the Sarpanch of the Village was really inspiring and good. The school had also arranged for lunch for all the people present along with all the students of the school and its members. It is really surprising, that the food was really tasty and perfectly made and served.

In a nutshell, the project turned out to be worth attending and enjoying.

A GENERAL MEETING OF THE CLUB: AUGUST 22nd , 2010.

The club met today to discuss about the participation by Our club in the Project of Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West (Parent club) in the distribution of books and stationery items to the students of Government School in Bidaj town.

The members present, thought and expressed their ideas and views/suggestions as to what could be done for the welfare of the children of the School of Bidaj town where programme of distribution of books and stationery items was about to take place.

SPEAKER MEET AT DEAF-DUMB-BLIND SCHOOL, AHMEDABAD : AUGUST 20TH, 2010.


Rotaract club of Ahmedabad West Blind who on 19th August, had organized an Eye-check up camp at Deaf-Dumb School, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad with Support from Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West, had kept a Speaker Meet.
They invited Dr.Shashank Rathod, Opthamalogist, who gave a very knowledgeable and perfect speech about what is eye, how can it be protected, how it gets damaged and so on. The event was captured by Doordarshan Ahmedabad and was later telecast.

Rtr.Ronak (President), Rtr.Joel (ZRR-Zone-I) and Rtr.Kamlesh attended the Speaker Meet.

EYE CHECK-UP CAMP AT DEAF-DUMB-BLIND SCHOOL, AHMEDABAD : AUGUST 19TH, 2010.


Rotaract club of Ahmedabad West Blind had organized an Eye-check up camp at Deaf-Dumb School, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad with Support from Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West.

On 19th of August, 2010, Rtr.Ronak (President) and Rtr.Joel (ZRR- Zone-I) attended the camp where all students from the school were checked up one by one by the doctors. Many students were treated on the spot by some liquid medicines poured in their eyes. The doctors also gave some inspirational guidance cum knowledge as to how to care their lovely eyes and improve eye sight for longer terms.

Overall the project was very exciting and good.

FLAG HOISTING CEREMONY AT BIDAJ: AUGUST 15TH ,2010.


Today, on the eve of Independence Day, our club supported, by attending and working in the flag hoisting programme done by Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West at Bidaj in a government school.

In the flag hoisting ceremony in the government school in Bidaj town, three members of the club attended it. Rtr.Joel, Rtr.Kamlesh and Rtr.Nikita (Secretary) attended the ceremony.

One of the new member, Rtr.Kamlesh, who is very active and enthusiastic, had a very nice and memorable experience of a project and what a project happens to be and how all members work together in making it a success.

A GENERAL MEETING OF THE CLUB: AUGUST 8TH , 2010.

The club met today to discuss about the participation by Our club members in the Project of Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West (Parent club) on the eve of Independence Day, 15th August, 2010.

The members present, thought and expressed their ideas and views/suggestions as to what could be done for the welfare of the children of the School of Bidaj town where flat hoisting programme was about to take place.

A GENERAL MEETING OF THE CLUB: AUGUST 1ST, 2010.

The meeting was held as usual at the Rotary Physio Therapy Centre at usual time. In the meeting members had a debate competition about the monsoon season being experienced this time whole India. The debate was well supported and commented by the members present. Moreover, discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of heavy or no rainfall was also done.

Overall the debate competition turned out to be knowledge giving and inspirational to old as well as to the new members.

DISTRICT ASSEMBLY AT BIKANER OF ROTARACT CLUB: JULY 24TH AND 25TH, 2010.


The members of our club went to Bikaner at District Assembly of Rotaract Club Dist-3050. Five members Rtr.Ronak (President), Rtr.Nikita (Secretary), Rtr.Joel, Rtr.Ami and Rtr.Vishal were present at the District Assembly.

The event was well organized and a good hospitality was given to all the clubs who had been present there. There our five members as pre-decided and practiced performed a skit of ten to twelve minutes. The skit was based on NATIONAL PLEDGE. The script was written by one of our club member Rtr.Manasvi who unfortunately couldn’t attend the District Assembly. But as per his guidance and direction we were able to give a loud applausing skit. The skit commented on how every line of the pledge is being not followed by our citizen of the country. After the skit was over, Rtr.Joel made all the members of the other clubs to stand and take oath to follow what is mentioned in the national pledge.

The members of all the clubs enjoyed at the dance d.j. party organized by Rotaract Club of Bikaner.

Moreover, after the two day of District Assembly, in the end one of the member of Rotaract Club of Bikaner, Rtr.Abhishek Garg, welcomed us at his home. This was the first time any member of one club inviting so whole heartedly to be his guest. So by respecting his welcome feelings , we went and had a pleasure to meet his family members. Moreover he also took us to have some sight seeing of Bikaner city along with some information about the city.

After that we members went to see the Temple of Karni Mata, which is famous for the mice found everywhere in and out of the temple.

Overall the project was very exciting and good.

FIRST SUNDAY MEET, 11TH JULY.

Hello Friends,

Today on the first sunday of the new year after our installation ceremony on 4th July, our club members met at the club centre. Meeting was attended by 8 members.

Today's meeting had two agenda. First to discuss about for Our club attending the District Assembly at Bikaner to be held on 24th and 25th July. The members discussed for selecting the mode of transport to reach Bikaner as the distance is too much. Moreover, after that, we discussed about some projects or performance that might be done there at Bikaner to grace the event. All the members present agreed to the idea given by Rtr.Joel of a project that will be done in the District Assembly.

We also discussed about different performance that our members can try to do solo or in group at the District Assembly in Bikaner. Still awaiting a consensus from the members.

Secondly, we started discussion as to increase the strength of members in our club. Each member present were asked to make atleast one new member. Rotarian Sandesh who attended our meeting, had brought one of his colleague friend Mr.Nikesh also in our meeting. And thanks to Rotarian Sandesh, that Mr.Nikesh agreed to become the member of our club. With that our club's strength increased by 6 members in the passage of 7 days of our installation ceremony on 4th July.

After the discussion about the District Assembly, as it was the first meeting where good number of members attended it, we tried to make it more lively and happening. We had some singing done by few members. Rtr.Vishal, a member who is very active and who has a good command in public speaking, sang very nice and beautiful songs. Not only did he sing, but he also explained the scene before of that song and why the song was made, what each lines of the song meant and who sang it. His knowledge, courage and enthusiam deserved a loud applause from all members and so did he get.

Then some music was played in the laptop which was enjoyed by all along with some light refreshment and cold drinks. Everybody enjoyed the meeting.

CEREMONY OF ROTARY CLUB OF AHMEDABAD WEST, 8TH JULY.

Hello friends,

Today was the installation ceremony day of the Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West. The function was held at Honest Hotel, Prahladnagar area. From our club Rtr.Nikita (Secretary), Rtr.Joel, Rtr.Manasvi, Rtr.Vishal and I attended the event. It was an event where there was pomp, boredom and jazzy food in the end, to put it brief.

All the members of Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West seemed to be present. The Chief Guest was a personality figure, who has been in textile designing since many years. His personality would doubt anyone, but as it is rightly said, that looks are deceiving. And so did happen, he was a man of high respect. The function had some good speeches by different members of their club. They, in the beginning of the event, gave away some trophy awards to members of their club as well as to the members of rotaract club.

From our club, I received "the outstanding member of the club" award for the year 2009-10. This was a second time in a row. I feel honoured and I Thank to the immediate past president Rtr.Joel and to all my club members and to the members of Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West, to see such qualities in me and awarding me for the same. I promise to keep that spirit alive in me in the coming years also with your support.

The major success we achieved in attending their event, was that our club was able to get two new members. I feel proud to announce Mr.Javed and Mr.Abhinav, as the members of Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West.

With the beginning of the year 2010-11 of Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West, in four days, our club had been lucky to add 5 new members in the strength of our club. I thank from the bottom of my heart to all those who inspired our 5 new members to join our club.

INSTALLATION CEREMONY ON 4TH JULY, 2010.

Hello friends.

The installation ceremony took place at the Rotary Physiotherapy Centre, Vastrapur on 4th July, 2010 at 3pm. Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West and Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West (Blind) had their installation ceremony together.

Members from both the club attended the function. Members of Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West, Dist-3050 graced the ocassion by their presence.

The programme began with the Four Way Test by Rtr.Murtuza Contractor. Then the programme was started with a welcome speech by the Outgoing President of our club, Rtr.Joel David accompanied by the Outgoing President of RCAW (Blind), Rtr.Ayaz on the dias. The programme followed with a short introduction speech by each members and non-members present.

Then speech was given by the Outgoing Secretary of both the clubs, myself and Rtr.Mihir. They informed about the supports received by their fellow members, their projects done under the leadership of their respectable President as well as some projects which were left undone due to lack of support from the fellow members of their respective clubs.

The Outgoing President Rtr.Joel David, who is very frank, straight forward and who has been one of the strongest or even if we say, the only strongest pillar of the Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West, gave a very true, lively and an informative speech about the functioning and loopholes existing on the way of Club's progress in making any dream project success.

The Outgoing President of RCAW (Blind) Rtr.Ayaz, who is a very talented musician/singer informed about the projects which they were able to turn into reality and about those which failed to turn into reality.

Before the installation oath ceremony could take place, one member from both the clubs gave a very true and real picture of their new incoming President. From our club, Rtr.Ami gave such a true and wonderful description about myself, which made me feel proud of having her as the member of our club in my tenure of Presidentship. From RCAW (Blind), Rtr.Hitesh informed in detail about their new incoming President Rtr.Mihir.

Rotarian Pavan Chaplot, who is the Assistant District Governor for 2010-11, congratulated us all on the installation event and he also honoured the parents of the members who attended the function. Then the parents of the members gave an inspiring and a thankful speech. The oath ceremony was conducted by Rotarian Pavanji where the following Rotaractors took the oath:

1. Rtr.Ronak Shah - President for Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West (2010-11).

2. Rtr.Nikita Mavani - Secretary for Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West (2010-11).

3. Rtr.Vishal - New member of Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West (2010-11).

4. Rtr.Manasvi - New member of Rotaract Club of Ahmedabad West (2010-11).

5. Rtr.Mihir - President of RCAW (Blind) (2010-11).

6. Rtr.Nissar - Secretary of RCAW (Blind) (2010-11).

7. Rtr.Zelna - New member of RCAW (Blind) (2010-11).

After the oath ceremony, Rotarian Pavanji, gave a very inspiring speech about what the club is for and what the members should and can do for the club. His wishes and anytime support promise made both the club feel strong.

After the installation, refreshment snacks and ice-creams were arranged for all the members, during which a small game was played among all the members/non-members present. Everyone enjoyed the snacks and game simulataneously.

The entire event was ended with the National Anthem.
